Monday, 08/18/08 - Apple this afternoon released another software update for the iPhone. As with the last update, this new version (2.02) is said to contain 'bug fixes' though Apple has not specified what has been updated or fixed.

Users are hoping that the latest update will correct iPhone 3G reception problems but early reports from users in the Apple forums are claiming otherwise. Some posts mention that the new 2.02 software update has made their iPhone 'snappier' when switching between apps, but 3G does not seem to have been improved with this release.

When the iPhone 2.0 update was released back in July, customers who upgraded found that their iPhone started to exhibit crashes - some minor (bounced to the home page) and others more serious (needing a software reset). This was in stark contrast to the very stable 1.0 software, released with the original iPhone. This update will most likely be another step toward making the latest 2.0 software as stable as the original version.
