I have not yet covered 'native' applications for the iPhone as I have been reluctant to cover software that only runs on 'hacked' iPhones. I personally have opened my iPhone up to 'native' applications quite a while ago but then decided to give up these native apps in order to install iPhone's firmware 1.1.1. Since hacking isn't for everyone and can actually void your iPhone warranty, I opted to stay away from covering these 3rd party native apps.

About 10 days ago an unbelievably simple method of jailbreaking the iPhone was released on the website www.jailbreakme.com. All you had to do to open up your iPhone to 3rd party 'native' apps was to direct your iPhone's Safari browser to that URL and the website automatically applied the 'jailbreak' hack to your iPhone, freeing up once again from the grips of Apple.

Why am I mentioning this again? Well, because of a new 'native' application that was just released called iRadio. iRadio can be installed from within installer.app (aka. appSnapp, apptapp). iRadio provides radio-like channels of MPEG streams with sound quality that is simply awesome. The first release had very low audio volume, but that was quickly remedied yesterday with an updated version, which now features full volume as well as a volume control.

While 1000+ songs on my iPhone is great, after a week of listening to the same playlists, it is so nice to have access to new music without having to first plunk down $1.00. I am sure that future Apple firmware updates will most likely try to nix programs such as iRadio - but let me tell you, iRadio may be the first 'native' application (IMO) for the iPhone that would prevent me from ever upgrading my iPhone to future versions.

Update (12:01 a.m., November 8, 2007)
As noted in the comments, this very early version of iRadio provides for a great experience if you launch the application and play a stream while on a Wi-Fi network. I have had very little success trying to listen to streams over the EDGE network. Streams listed as 64k sometimes play for a few seconds then will typically either stop playing or will hiccup during playback. Since this is a very early beta of this application I expect to see some great improvements in stability and features. If you're on a Wi-Fi network and just want some great music while you work - open iRadio, select a stream, and let it play. Note: If you hit the "home" button on your iPhone while the application is open - the iPhone freezes and has to be turned off/on - though the music still continues to play until you turn it off. For now, it doesn't like to multi-task.
